Continuing Our Progress Toward Reopening Safely, Calling New Clergy

Dear Saints of St. David’s:Linda-Guest-Senior-Warden-St.-Davids

Our church continues to move forward on our technical capabilities, a reopening plan, and the calling of interim clergy.

As you may have seen over this past weekend, we have started using the audio/visual equipment installed in the sanctuary for online services. This is a significant step forward for us, and I ask you to join me in thanking our tech team and vestry for supporting this project.

If you missed Sunday’s service or a prior Morning Prayer, visit our new Videos page to watch them. Bulletins are included in the video descriptions.

Parallel to this effort, which will soon result in livestreaming Sunday services directly to our new website, stdavidsonthehill.org, our Reopening Team met recently to begin drafting a plan for in-person attendance at weekly services.

This plan is being developed according to Diocesan guidelines, and must be submitted to the Diocese and the State of Rhode Island before we can formally reopen the church.

At this time, only participants in Morning Prayer (officiant, musician, readers, and tech crew) are allowed in the church during services, and must follow COVID-19 guidelines while they are in the sanctuary.

Please contact me or email Kathy at office@stdavidsonthehill.org if you are interested in participating in Morning Prayer.

On the topic of interim clergy, our junior wardens and I have spoken with a candidate and are in the process of drafting a contract in consultation with Canon Dena Cleaver-Bartholomew from the Diocese of Rhode Island.

It is likely that our timeline for reopening will coincide with the interim clergy person starting their ministry with us. Due to the confidentiality of this process, we are not able to identify the candidate at this time, but we expect to make an announcement soon.

Please remember that the only 100-percent accurate information about St. David’s is provided through this letter, the eLamp, and announcements posted on our website and Facebook page. I ask that you refer to these sources for information about our church, and invite you to contact me directly if you have any questions.

Thank you for your continuing support of St. David’s on-the-Hill!

Love and Blessings,
Linda Guest, Senior Warden

Prayer for All Christians in Their Vocation

Amen.
