Grannies’ Attic
Grannies’ Attic has a long history at St. David’s, going back at least 50 years. We credit Doris Cameron as being the original Grannie, but Doris gave that honor to Helene “Gramma Mikki” Mikkelsen.
Over the years, there have been many Grannies and Honorary Grannies who have done their part to support this ongoing effort at St. David’s.
Originally held in the lower wing, the location of our Sunday School classrooms, the twice-a-year sale soon outgrew the space and is currently held in the Upper Hall.
Every year, our Grannies and a team of volunteers contribute to every part of the effort, from sorting and preparing items for sale; to staffing the sales table; to counting up the sales; to cleaning the space; to bringing any leftover items to Saver’s.
Part fundraiser, part yard sale, Grannies’ Attic is also a ministry of St. David’s, offering gently used clothing and housewares to those who may not otherwise be able to afford them.
In recent years, the Friday Pre-Sale (open only to parishioners) has grown in popularity, and beginning in 2019, a group of Grannies decided to keep the sale going year-round by starting the Closet on-the-Hill Thrift Shop.
