You may have noticed a new addition to St. David’s: A “Big Green Bin” provided by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island.
The Big Green Bin is used to collect clothing, shoes and other cloth items that can be recycled to keep them out of landfills and reduce municipal collection and disposal costs.
Under the agreement approved by the St. David’s vestry, the church will receive 30 percent of the proceeds from the sale of collected items to a BBBSRI partner organization. According to Jen McAuslin, BBBSRI’s Director of Donation Center Operations, the agency worked with 18 churches during 2022 and raised more than $28,000.
Located to the right of the church office entrance, the bin ready to take any fabric (clothes, sheets, blankets, etc.) and shoes for recycling.
Please place items in plastic bags before putting them in the Bin.
